Eljadida

This coastal city, which is located some 80km south of Casablanca, was a fortress erected by the Portuguese back at the beginning of the 16th Century. The fortifications of the Portuguese City provide an example of Portuguese military architecture during the Renaissance and stand witness to cross-cultural interactions and influences between Europe and Morocco. In June 2004, the City of El-Jadida was formally registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The El-Jadida region is famous for and prominent in horse breeding.
